I’m sharing how I make homemade dog food using simple, wholesome ingredients like ground beef, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and more! My dog, Ozzy, absolutely loves it—and it’s a great way to add some variety and fresh nutrition to their diet. 🐶
👉 Please note: I’m not a veterinarian or pet nutritionist. I’m just a dog-loving DIYer doing what works for my furry friend. I also mix in a high-quality kibble to help ensure my pup is getting balanced nutrients.
If you’re thinking of making your own dog food, be sure to check with your vet to make sure it’s right for your dog’s specific needs. 💛
Ingredients I used:
- 3 pounds ground beef (hamburger)
- 2 c. brown rice – cooked in beef stock and ½ c. water
- 2 c steamed sweet potatoes
- 2 c. shredded, steamed carrots
- 2 c. fresh steamed spinach
- 1 ½ c. fresh steamed broccoli
- 1 t. sea salt
- 1 T. butter
Make the rice with the beef stock and add the butter to it when done. Steam the vegetables until soft. Brown the ground beef (hamburger). Mix all ingredients together. I served 3/4 cup into small snack baggies. When I serve this to my dog, I also add some kibble in to give him added crunch and nutrients.
